    IT consultant bench hotlist template

A bench hotlist is the weekly list an IT staffing vendor sends to clients and prime vendors of the consultants available for new projects. This Excel template puts one row per consultant: primary skill, total years and years in the US or UK, key technologies, certifications, current location, relocation, availability, work authorization or visa, rate and notes, each only as stated. A cover block above the rows gives the vendor, the hotlist date and the contact for submissions, with live counts of consultants listed, average total years, those available immediately and those open to relocation. Formatix fills one row from each consultant's resume and your notes; the hotlist grows with the bench.

Bench sales teams rebuild the hotlist every week from a dozen resumes and a stack of notes. This template does the row for each consultant and keeps the counts at the top live. Because the hotlist goes to many clients, it never guesses a rate, a visa status or an availability date, and it can list consultants by initials when you want it anonymised.

    Questions about this template

Will it fill in a rate or visa status?
Only as the resume or your notes state them. A rate is never taken from the skill, the market or a previous contract, and a work authorization status is never inferred from a name, a nationality, a university or a country of work. A cell with nothing stated stays blank.
    Can the hotlist be anonymised?
Yes. When your notes say so, consultants are listed by initials. The consultant's email, phone, home address and current client names are never printed unless your notes ask for them.
    How are the years counted?
Total years as stated, or counted only from the earliest professional role when the dates allow. Years in the US or UK add up only roles whose stated locations are in that country, with overlapping roles counted once. Years are whole numbers; a blank means the dates do not allow a count.
What do the counts at the top show?
Consultants listed, average total years, consultants available immediately and consultants open to relocation. They are formulas, so they update as you add, remove or edit rows.
