Executive assessment reports

Executive assessment reports from your notes, laid out in your firm's own template

A leadership assessment report is the document a client pays for: the consultant's judgement on a candidate, supported by the interview, the CV and often a psychometric profile. Formatix takes those inputs, your interview notes, the candidate's CV, the ratings you gave and the instrument results you already hold, and lays them into your own assessment report template in Word or PDF. The judgement stays yours. The evening of copying and redrawing does not.

Where the time goes in an assessment report

Most search consultants can describe a candidate clearly in five minutes after an assessment interview. Turning that into the report the client expects is a different job. The notes are in a notebook, a Word file or a transcript. The CV has a structure nothing like your career summary table. The psychometric results arrive as a PDF from the provider in its own layout. The report itself has a cover page, an executive summary, a career history, a competency section with ratings, a personality profile, development points and a recommendation, all in the firm's typography.

So the evening after an assessment becomes an evening of copying dates into tables, retyping job titles, redrawing rating bars in Word and fixing the page break that the rating table always pushes onto the next page. When a mandate has five finalists, that is five evenings, usually in the week the client wants the shortlist.

Associates and researchers often end up doing the assembly, which creates a second problem: every report looks slightly different. The client notices when the ratings table on one candidate is a different shape from the next, and a firm that sells rigour does not want to look inconsistent.

    What goes in

    • Your interview notes

Typed notes, a Word document, bullet points or a transcript of the assessment interview. Formatix keeps your wording and places it under the headings your template uses.

    • The candidate's CV

Any layout, PDF or Word, in any of 40+ languages. Career history, education, board roles and qualifications are extracted into your career summary.

    • The ratings you gave

Scores against your competency framework, on whatever scale your firm uses. Formatix draws them as the bars or scales in your template. It does not score anything itself.

    • Psychometric results you hold

The results report from an instrument your firm uses, such as Hogan, SHL, Saville Wave or DISC. The scores you choose to include are charted in your house style.

    What comes out

    • The assessment report in Word

A DOCX in your template, fully editable, so the consultant can refine the wording before it goes out.

    • A PDF for the client

The same report as a PDF for sending to the client, the chair or the nominations committee.

    • A summary slide, if you want one

If finalists are presented in a deck, the same inputs can fill a PowerPoint summary slide per candidate.

    • The same structure every time

Every consultant's report follows the same template, so a finalist group reads as one piece of work.

A sample report, page by page

These two pages come from a sample assessment report for a fictional candidate, produced on a Formatix-owned demo template. Page two shows competency ratings drawn as bars from scores supplied by the consultant, and a personality profile laid out from instrument results the consultant provided. Your report would follow your own template, not this one.

    How it works

    1. 1

Give us the report you already send

Upload a finished assessment report with the candidate's details removed or replaced by a dummy. Formatix turns it into a template: headings, rating scales, tables and the cover page become fields. You get a filled sample to check before you use it. No house template yet? It can build one from your website branding.

    2. 2

      Add the candidate's material

Upload the CV, your interview notes, your ratings and the instrument results for one candidate, or up to 20 files in one batch when you are writing up a whole finalist group.

    3. 3

      Formatix lays it out

Each input goes where it belongs: the career history into your career table, your scores into your rating bars, your notes under your headings. It is instructed to work only from your material and not to add judgements of its own.

    4. 4

      Review and send

Open the Word file, adjust the wording, and send the DOCX or a PDF. The consultant signs off the report, as always.

What stays exactly as your brand

    • Fonts and colours

The typefaces, sizes and colours in your template are the ones in the output. Nothing is swapped for a default.

    • Layout and spacing

Margins, columns, table widths and spacing come from your document. Your cover page stays your cover page.

    • Your rating scale

Rate on 1 to 5 and the bars show 1 to 5. Use descriptors such as 'Strength' and 'Development area' and those are what appear.

    • Section order and headings

Executive summary first or last, recommendation on page one or at the end: the report follows your structure, not a generic one.

    Who it is for

    • Retained executive search firms

Firms that deliver a written assessment on each finalist as part of the mandate, and want every report to look like the firm wrote it.

    • Leadership advisory practices

Teams writing up one-to-one leadership assessments or assessment centres for clients, where the report is the product.

    • In-house executive talent teams

Talent teams assessing internal and external candidates for senior roles, who need board-ready write-ups in the company template.

    • Interim management providers

Providers presenting interim executives to clients with a short written assessment alongside the CV.

Compared with doing it by hand, or with a CV formatter

Firms usually produce assessment reports in one of two ways: entirely by hand in Word, or with a CV formatter for the career section and the rest built manually. CV formatters such as Allsorter, HireAra and CV-Transformer are built to reformat a CV into a house template; they stop at the CV. An assessment report has different inputs and a different structure.

    Questions people ask

Does Formatix assess the candidate or write the recommendation?
No. The assessment is the consultant's. Formatix takes your notes, your ratings and the results you hold and lays them into your report template. It is instructed not to add judgements that are not in your material, and every report comes out as an editable Word file so you can review and change the wording before it reaches the client.
Can it use our existing assessment report template?
Yes, and that is the normal starting point. Upload a report you have already sent, with the candidate's details removed or replaced by a dummy, and Formatix turns it into a template, keeping fonts, colours, spacing and layout. If you do not have a house template yet, it can build one from your website branding.
    How are competency ratings shown?
In whatever form your template uses: bars, dots, a filled scale or a table of descriptors. The scores come from you or your panel. Formatix does not score competencies; it draws the ratings you supply.
Which psychometric instruments does it work with?
It works with results from instruments firms commonly use, including Hogan, SHL, Saville Wave and DISC. You upload the results you hold; Formatix lays the scores you want shown into your report. It does not administer, score or interpret any instrument. The psychometric report integration page explains this in detail.
Can the CV be in a different language from the report?
Yes. Formatix works in 40+ languages, so a CV in German and notes in English can go into an English report template.
Can we produce reports for a whole finalist group at once?
Yes. You can upload up to 20 files in one batch. Each candidate still gets their own report, and each one should be reviewed by the consultant before it goes out.
Where is the candidate's data processed?
In the UK and EU, under GDPR. Nothing you upload is used to train AI models.
Can consultants use it from ChatGPT or Claude?
Yes. Through the Formatix MCP server, consultants can produce documents from ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity as well as in the Formatix platform.
