    Agency social worker compliance checklist

Before a locum social worker starts with a council in England, the agency checks their Social Work England registration, DBS, identity, right to work and references, and for child and family work the DfE agency rules. Formatix fills the checklist from the CV and your compliance file and lists what is still needed before the assignment starts.

    What it is

Social workers in England are registered with Social Work England. Since 31 October 2024, councils using agency child and family social workers follow the DfE agency rules, which include three years' post-qualifying experience in local authority employment, a three-month rule for workers who leave a substantive post nearby, and two detailed references on a standard template.

The Formatix template covers the assignment and agreed rates; registration, the register check, conditions, fitness to practise orders, AMHP and BIA annotations, qualification and ASYE; the DfE agency rules for child and family work; enhanced DBS with barred lists and the Update Service; identity and right to work; references; safeguarding training, health declaration and driving; the agency declaration; and a Still needed box.

Post-qualifying experience is never worked out from the CV's dates. What the CV says goes in the details, and the check is left for your record.

    Frequently asked questions

Is this an official council or DfE form?
No. It is a Formatix template, and its footer says it is not an official form. If a council gives you its own checklist, upload that and Formatix builds the template from it.
Does Formatix check the Social Work England register?
No. It copies the register check from your file. The checks stay with your compliance team.
Does it work with our ATS or CRM?
JobAdder, Salesforce, HubSpot and Ezekia connect to Formatix natively on every plan, including the free trial. Any other ATS or CRM works with Formatix by email: send the CV and your notes to [email protected] and the filled document comes back.
