    Expert witness CV template

An expert witness CV sets out the qualifications and experience that make an expert competent on the issues in a dispute: field of expertise and current position, qualifications and memberships, expert witness experience (courts and tribunals, types of instruction, numbers and the claimant / defendant split) when stated, relevant professional experience, publications, training and a declaration placeholder. No rule prescribes the format, but court rules require qualifications in the report (Practice Direction 35 paragraph 3.2(1) in England and Wales; Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 26(a)(2)(B) in US federal courts). This Word template orders the CV to match, and Formatix fills it from the expert's existing CV.

Experts' own CVs are often long academic or professional documents. Filling them into one template puts the facts the court and the instructing lawyers look for first, in the same order for every expert a firm puts forward.

    Questions about this template

Is there a required expert witness CV format?
We know of none in England and Wales or US federal courts. The rules require qualifications in the expert's report, and FRCP 26(a)(2)(B) also requires publications from the previous 10 years and testimony from the previous 4.
    Does it list prior testimony?
If the expert's CV or your note lists it, the template has a section for it. Formatix does not research or verify an expert's history.
Can it shorten a long academic CV?
The template sets what each section holds and puts the most relevant material first; your note can say what to emphasise. Your team reviews the result.
