    German CV template (Lebenslauf)

A Lebenslauf is the tabular CV that hiring managers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland expect, with the dates in a column on the left. This Word template is the first in the Formatix library written entirely in German: every heading, label and the footer are German, and Formatix writes the content in German too, whatever language the CV arrives in. It puts the name and position beside the photo top right (initials without one), then Persönliche Daten (Wohnort, Verfügbarkeit and Ansprechpartner, as stated), a short Profil, Berufserfahrung with the dates on the left and the tasks and results on dash lines, Ausbildung, Weiterbildungen und Zertifikate, and Kenntnisse und Sprachen. It carries no date of birth, nationality or signature line. Formatix writes it from the CV and your notes and never invents an employer, date, figure or skill.

Agencies placing candidates into the DACH region often have to rebuild an English CV as a German Lebenslauf by hand. This template does the rebuilding: German headings, German date format, language levels in German and the content written in German, in your brand. Dates appear only with the months the CV gives, and a language level is never raised.

What you keep is the finished document: an editable Word, PowerPoint or Excel file.

Ask for changes in plain words, such as "move the photo to the right" or "add a Languages section", and the template is updated with the rest of its formatting kept. If you already have a document you send clients, upload that instead and Formatix turns it into a template. How Studio builds templates

    Questions about this template

Is the whole CV in German?
Yes. The headings, labels and footer are German, and Formatix writes the profile, the role summaries and the achievements in German, even when the CV is in English or another language. Employer names and official qualification names stay as the documents give them.
    How are dates written?
The German way, such as "04/2016 – 02/2021" and "seit 03/2021" for a current role, and only with the months the CV gives. When the CV gives years only, the Lebenslauf shows years only; a month is never added and a gap is never filled.
Does it include a date of birth or a signature?
No. The template leaves out date of birth, place of birth, nationality, marital status and religion, and it has no signature line. Personal details are limited to place of residence, availability and the presenting consultant, as stated.
    How are language levels shown?
As the CV states them, in German (for example Muttersprache, verhandlungssicher, fließend) or as a CEFR level such as C1 when the CV gives one. A level is never raised and a description is never turned into a CEFR level.
Is there a German version of this page?
    Yes, at /de/vorlagen/tabellarischer-lebenslauf.
