Executive search · Australia buyer's guide

Best CV and resume formatting software for executive search firms (Australia, 2026)

Updated 9 October 2026 · Written by the Formatix AI team, London

Australian recruiters say "resume" more often than "CV", but what a retained search firm in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth sends a client goes well beyond either. One board or C-suite mandate can produce a nominations committee pack, an assessment report, a blind longlist profile and a shortlist deck, all in the firm's branding.

Most Australian agencies run JobAdder, Bullhorn or Vincere, and JobAdder started in Sydney, so the first question is usually which tool plugs into the system holding the candidate record. We make one of the tools below, so we have stuck to what each vendor publishes on its own site and said where another is the better buy.

If you only need branded resumes pushed back into JobAdder, Bullhorn or Vincere, Allsorter, CVFormatter and RemakeCV all do that; choose on ATS and pricing model. If you also send assessment reports, board and CEO packs or PowerPoint shortlists in your own template, Formatix AI is built for that.

    1. Formatix AI

Best for: Australian search firms whose client work goes beyond the resume

Formatix is a London-based platform that produces executive search documents in the template your firm already uses. You upload a board candidate report or shortlist deck you send clients today, and Formatix keeps its fonts, colours, spacing and layout.

It suits firms running board, ASX-listed or public sector appointments, where a nominations committee or selection panel expects a consistent pack rather than a stack of reformatted resumes. Formatix does not assess candidates or interpret psychometric results, and it is not affiliated with any psychometric publisher.

Plans start at A$37 a month for 20 credits, charged in Australian dollars at checkout. New accounts get 10 free credits with no card, valid for 14 days.

    • Board and CEO candidate reports, one-page executive profiles and blind profiles for confidential searches.
    • Assessment reports combining interview notes, the resume and psychometric results you already hold (Hogan, SHL, Saville Wave or DISC).
    • Shortlist decks with one PowerPoint slide per candidate and a matching Excel tracker, plus longlists, market maps and 9-box succession packs.
    • Resumes read in 40+ languages.
    • Data processed in the UK and EU under GDPR, never used to train AI models.
    • Works on the web, by email, through an API, with JobAdder, and from ChatGPT or Claude via MCP.

Less suited to: firms wanting a resume formatter inside Bullhorn or Vincere and nothing more (Allsorter or RemakeCV are more established there), or needing data held in Australia or invoices in Australian dollars.

    2. Allsorter

Best for: agencies that want formatting from inside their ATS

Allsorter, based in Dublin and used by 400+ recruitment and staffing organisations, runs a page for Australian recruiters naming agencies from Sydney and Melbourne to Perth and Adelaide. It integrates with JobAdder, Bullhorn, Vincere, Salesforce, Mercury and Tracker. In JobAdder you send a resume from the Candidates grid and the formatted file returns to the candidate record. Pricing is by quote.

Less suited to: firms that want published pricing before a sales call, or PowerPoint shortlist decks and assessment reports, which are not part of its published feature set.

    3. HireAra

Best for: firms that want to see when clients open a candidate profile

HireAra, part of The Access Group, offers formatted profiles, executive one-pagers and spec CVs, plus candidate websites with video intros, engagement tracking and booking. It has a separate APAC login and lists JobAdder, Bullhorn, Vincere, Mercury, Salesforce and Access CRM integrations. That suits agencies already on Vincere, which Access sells here with data on Australian servers.

Less suited to: firms that need Excel trackers, succession packs or assessment reports in their own template.

    4. CVFormatter

Best for: JobAdder agencies that want formatting in one click

CVFormatter is listed on JobAdder's integration marketplace. You send a resume from JobAdder and get back a branded Word file, PDF or secure weblink, with translation and anonymisation available. Plans are in US dollars, from US$79 a month for 100 resume credits, with a free plan of 5 credits. Its site does not say where the company is based.

Less suited to: firms not on JobAdder, or needing PowerPoint decks or search reports.

    5. RemakeCV

Best for: agencies that want their Word template rebuilt for them

RemakeCV formats PDF and Word resumes, including scans and multi-column layouts, into a Word template its team rebuilds for you, usually within 24 hours. It lists JobAdder, Vincere, Bullhorn, Salesforce and Mercury integrations on every plan. The Business plan is US$25 per user a month billed annually, with 30 credits per user.

Less suited to: multi-candidate decks, Excel trackers and executive search reports, which are not part of its published feature set.

    6. Distill

Best for: small teams that want formatting and anonymisation by email

Distill is made in New Zealand and serves Australian agencies among others. Forward a resume by email, or use the web app or API, and get back Word or PDF in your brand kit with name, contact details, photo and graduation year removed; its site cites Australian Human Rights Commission guidance on unconscious bias. Plans are in US dollars, from US$49 a month for 50 CVs with unlimited users.

Less suited to: firms whose template is more than a logo and footer, or who need PowerPoint, Excel or executive search reports.

    • You live in JobAdder and only need branded resumes: compare Allsorter, CVFormatter and RemakeCV on price and on how the file returns to the record.
    • You are on Vincere and want candidate websites with open tracking: HireAra.
    • You want the lowest entry cost and anonymised resumes by email: Distill.
    • You send board packs, assessment reports or PowerPoint shortlists to ASX boards or public sector panels: Formatix AI.
    • Whichever you pick, ask where data is stored and how disclosure outside Australia is handled under Australian Privacy Principle 8.

What resume formatting software works with JobAdder?

JobAdder's marketplace lists Allsorter and CVFormatter, and RemakeCV and HireAra list JobAdder integrations on their own sites. Formatix AI also works with JobAdder, by email, through an API and inside ChatGPT or Claude.

Is there CV formatting software built for executive search in Australia, not just agency recruitment?

Most resume formatters were built for contingent agencies. For board packs, assessment reports, blind profiles or shortlist decks on retained mandates, Formatix AI produces those in your own template in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PDF.

Does using an overseas formatting tool raise Privacy Act issues?

Resumes are personal information, so the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles apply, including APP 8 on overseas disclosure and APP 11 on security. Ask any vendor where data is processed, how long files are kept and whether data trains AI. Formatix processes data in the UK and EU under GDPR and never uses it to train AI models.

How much does resume formatting software cost in Australia?

Few of these vendors quote in Australian dollars. Formatix AI starts at A$37 a month for 20 credits, charged in Australian dollars, with 10 free credits. CVFormatter starts at US$79 a month, RemakeCV at US$25 per user a month billed annually, and Distill at US$49 a month. Allsorter quotes on request.

Can these tools anonymise a resume for a confidential search?

Yes. Distill, CVFormatter, RemakeCV and Formatix AI all anonymise. Formatix produces blind profiles in your own template, so a confidential longlist matches the rest of your client work.

Competitor details were checked on each vendor's own website on 9 October 2026 and may have changed since. Prices are in each vendor's published currency. Trademarks belong to their owners. Corrections: [email protected].
