CV formatting with Mercury xRM
Mercury xRM CV formatting in your own Word template
Mercury's knowledge base describes a HireAra integration on the candidate record for formatting CVs from a chosen template, and Microsoft Dynamics Word templates with merge fields, such as a CV cover sheet. Formatix is another option that works alongside Mercury: it uses the Word, PowerPoint or Excel file your firm already sends as the template and fills it from any raw CV. There is no Formatix connector for Mercury, so you format in Formatix and attach the document to the candidate in Mercury.
This page is for Mercury users comparing ways to produce client-ready CVs, profiles and shortlist documents in the firm's own design.
No card needed. 10 free credits on sign-up, valid for 14 days; one credit formats one CV.
What Mercury does natively
Mercury's knowledge base describes a HireAra integration on the candidate record ribbon: you choose a template, can add a job description, interview transcript or notes, compare the result side by side with the original and save it back to Mercury, as a CV, cover letter, anonymous one-pager or submission pack. As a Microsoft Dynamics 365 application, Mercury also supports Dynamics Word templates with merge fields; its own example is a CV cover sheet.
The Mercury articles we read do not say whether the HireAra integration is included or licensed separately; check with Mercury.

Where Formatix fits
Formatix fits firms that want the template to be their own existing document: upload the Word profile, PowerPoint deck or Excel tracker you already send and Formatix builds a reusable template from it, preserving fonts, colours and layout.
It works outside Mercury, from the platform, by email or from ChatGPT and Claude, and produces Word, PowerPoint, Excel or PDF for the candidate record.
- Your own Word, PowerPoint or Excel file is the template: upload the profile, deck or tracker you already send clients and Formatix builds a reusable template from it, keeping your fonts, colours, layout and logo.
- Starts from any raw CV: PDF, Word, RTF, text, scans and photos (OCR) and LinkedIn PDF exports, in more than 40 languages.
- Output in Word, PowerPoint, Excel or PDF, so the document stays editable when a consultant needs to adjust it.
- Anonymised CVs and blind profiles from the same CV, with names, contact details and other identifying fields left out.
- Shortlist decks (one slide per candidate) and Excel trackers filled from the same batch of CVs as the individual profiles.
- Every formatted document is shown beside the original CV for checking before it goes to a client.
How to use Formatix with Mercury
- 1
Build your template once
Sign up and upload the Word, PowerPoint or Excel document your firm already sends clients. Formatix turns it into a reusable template and shows you a sample filled from a real CV to approve.
- 2
Format the CV
Take the CV from the candidate record in Mercury and drop it into the Formatix platform (one or a batch), email it to [email protected], or ask ChatGPT or Claude to format it with your template through the Formatix connector.
- 3
Attach the result in Mercury
Check the formatted document beside the original, then attach the Word, PowerPoint or PDF file to the candidate record in Mercury or send it to the client.
There is no Formatix connector for Mercury today, so the two are used side by side: Mercury stays your system of record and Formatix produces the client document. A Mercury connector is built on request: tell us your firm uses Mercury.
Firms with their own developers can also call the Formatix REST API (webhooks on the Agency plan and above) to format CVs from their own workflow.
Each formatted CV uses one credit. New accounts get 10 free credits on sign-up (no card, valid for 14 days); plans start at £20 a month for 20 credits. From ChatGPT or Claude, Formatix is free for 5 CVs a month when the assistant reads the CV itself (confirmed company email, no card).
