CV formatting with Manatal
Manatal custom resume in your own Word template
Manatal's Custom Resume builds a candidate resume from fixed templates in which you choose an accent colour, a font and a date format, add agency details to the header and footer and choose which sections show; the output is a PDF. If you need the resume in your own Word, PowerPoint or Excel design, Formatix uses your existing file as the template and fills it from any raw CV. There is no Formatix connector for Manatal, so you format in Formatix and attach the file to the candidate in Manatal.
Manatal users usually reach this question when the client or the firm wants a specific layout that the built-in templates do not offer, or an editable Word file rather than a PDF.
No card needed. 10 free credits on sign-up, valid for 14 days; one credit formats one CV.
What Manatal does natively
Manatal's support documentation describes a Custom Resume built from fixed templates: you define an accent colour, one font for the document and a date format, put agency details in the header and footer, add a watermark, hide the candidate photo, and show, hide or reorder sections and fields. The output is a PDF. A separate Branded Resume keeps the original CV and adds your logo to the header, with an optional watermark.
Manatal's FAQ lists API access as exclusive to its Enterprise Plus plan.

Where Formatix fits
Formatix fits when the layout itself has to be yours: the document your firm already sends, with its own structure, sections, tables and fonts, rather than a choice of colour and font on a set layout. Output stays editable in Word or PowerPoint, or locked as PDF when you prefer.
Because Formatix works on its own, it does not depend on your Manatal plan: you can use it from the platform, by email or from ChatGPT and Claude, and attach the result in Manatal.
- Your own Word, PowerPoint or Excel file is the template: upload the profile, deck or tracker you already send clients and Formatix builds a reusable template from it, keeping your fonts, colours, layout and logo.
- Starts from any raw CV: PDF, Word, RTF, text, scans and photos (OCR) and LinkedIn PDF exports, in more than 40 languages.
- Output in Word, PowerPoint, Excel or PDF, so the document stays editable when a consultant needs to adjust it.
- Anonymised CVs and blind profiles from the same CV, with names, contact details and other identifying fields left out.
- Shortlist decks (one slide per candidate) and Excel trackers filled from the same batch of CVs as the individual profiles.
- Every formatted document is shown beside the original CV for checking before it goes to a client.
How to use Formatix with Manatal
- 1
Build your template once
Sign up and upload the Word, PowerPoint or Excel document your firm already sends clients. Formatix turns it into a reusable template and shows you a sample filled from a real CV to approve.
- 2
Format the CV
Take the CV from the candidate record in Manatal and drop it into the Formatix platform (one or a batch), email it to [email protected], or ask ChatGPT or Claude to format it with your template through the Formatix connector.
- 3
Attach the result in Manatal
Check the formatted document beside the original, then attach the Word, PowerPoint or PDF file to the candidate record in Manatal or send it to the client.
There is no Formatix connector for Manatal today, so the two are used side by side: Manatal stays your system of record and Formatix produces the client document. A Manatal connector is built on request: tell us your firm uses Manatal.
Firms with their own developers can also call the Formatix REST API (webhooks on the Agency plan and above) to format CVs from their own workflow.
Each formatted CV uses one credit. New accounts get 10 free credits on sign-up (no card, valid for 14 days); plans start at £20 a month for 20 credits. From ChatGPT or Claude, Formatix is free for 5 CVs a month when the assistant reads the CV itself (confirmed company email, no card).
Frequently asked questions
- Can I use my own Word template for Manatal custom resumes?
- Manatal's documentation (read 19 October 2026) describes Custom Resume as fixed templates with options for accent colour, font, date format, header, footer, watermark and section order, output as PDF. To use your own Word or PowerPoint design, upload it to Formatix, format the CV there and attach the file to the candidate in Manatal.
- Can Manatal export custom resumes as Word documents?
- Manatal's Custom Resume documentation describes PDF output. Formatix outputs Word, PowerPoint, Excel or PDF, so a consultant can still edit the document before it goes to a client.
- Does Formatix integrate with Manatal?
- Not directly yet. There is no Formatix connector for Manatal today; a connector is built on request. Until then, download the CV from Manatal, format it on the Formatix platform, by email to [email protected] or from ChatGPT or Claude, and attach the formatted file back to the record in Manatal.
- How much does Formatix cost for a firm using Manatal?
- The same as for anyone else: Each formatted CV uses one credit. New accounts get 10 free credits on sign-up (no card, valid for 14 days); plans start at £20 a month for 20 credits. From ChatGPT or Claude, Formatix is free for 5 CVs a month when the assistant reads the CV itself (confirmed company email, no card). There is no separate fee for using Formatix alongside Manatal.
