CV formatting with Firefish
Firefish CV formatting in your own Word template
Firefish lets a super user upload a Word template with the firm's branded header and footer and merge fields; recruiters then create a formatted CV, saved as a PDF, and Recruiter Summary AI can write a candidate summary from the parsed CV. Formatix rebuilds the whole CV in your firm's own Word, PowerPoint, Excel or PDF template, with one structure for every candidate. There is no Formatix connector for Firefish, so you format in Formatix and attach the result to the candidate in Firefish.
Firefish users usually look for this when the formatted CV needs a full house-style layout, an editable Word file, or a shortlist deck rather than a branded wrapper around the original.
No card needed. 10 free credits on sign-up, valid for 14 days; one credit formats one CV.
What Firefish does natively
Firefish's help centre describes uploading a Word template with a branded header and footer to the Document Library and inserting merge fields. Recruiters then create a formatted CV, which is saved as a PDF and can be edited in the app on desktop; the article notes that font styles are taken from the original CV. Recruiter Summary AI writes a candidate summary from the parsed CV, and Firefish's product page says it can format candidate CVs with AI in seconds.

Where Formatix fits
Formatix fits when the CV body has to follow your layout as well as your header and footer: the candidate's history, achievements and education are restructured into a template built from your own document, in your fonts, for every candidate.
Output can stay in Word for editing, and the same batch can fill a PowerPoint shortlist deck and an Excel tracker.
- Your own Word, PowerPoint or Excel file is the template: upload the profile, deck or tracker you already send clients and Formatix builds a reusable template from it, keeping your fonts, colours, layout and logo.
- Starts from any raw CV: PDF, Word, RTF, text, scans and photos (OCR) and LinkedIn PDF exports, in more than 40 languages.
- Output in Word, PowerPoint, Excel or PDF, so the document stays editable when a consultant needs to adjust it.
- Anonymised CVs and blind profiles from the same CV, with names, contact details and other identifying fields left out.
- Shortlist decks (one slide per candidate) and Excel trackers filled from the same batch of CVs as the individual profiles.
- Every formatted document is shown beside the original CV for checking before it goes to a client.
How to use Formatix with Firefish
- 1
Build your template once
Sign up and upload the Word, PowerPoint or Excel document your firm already sends clients. Formatix turns it into a reusable template and shows you a sample filled from a real CV to approve.
- 2
Format the CV
Take the CV from the candidate record in Firefish and drop it into the Formatix platform (one or a batch), email it to [email protected], or ask ChatGPT or Claude to format it with your template through the Formatix connector.
- 3
Attach the result in Firefish
Check the formatted document beside the original, then attach the Word, PowerPoint or PDF file to the candidate record in Firefish or send it to the client.
There is no Formatix connector for Firefish today, so the two are used side by side: Firefish stays your system of record and Formatix produces the client document. A Firefish connector is built on request: tell us your firm uses Firefish.
Firms with their own developers can also call the Formatix REST API (webhooks on the Agency plan and above) to format CVs from their own workflow.
Each formatted CV uses one credit. New accounts get 10 free credits on sign-up (no card, valid for 14 days); plans start at £20 a month for 20 credits. From ChatGPT or Claude, Formatix is free for 5 CVs a month when the assistant reads the CV itself (confirmed company email, no card).
