Law firms · Panels and pitches
How should law firms format lawyer bios for panel tenders?
Use the format and length the tender documents set; if they set none, use one firm template for every lawyer. Lead each bio with the lawyer's role on the panel, then the experience relevant to the buyer's lots or practice areas, then admissions, qualifications and languages, and describe representative matters only as far as client confidentiality allows. Keep every bio in the same structure so the team reads as one firm. Formatix AI fills that format from each lawyer's CV or existing bio, for business development to check.
No card needed. Trial credits are valid for 14 days; plans start at £20 a month.
What the buyer decides
The format comes from the buyer. In the UK, the Legal Panel for Government (RM6360) runs from 30 September 2025 to 29 September 2028 with 28 suppliers across 7 lots, replacing the Legal Services Panel (RM6179), Rail Legal Services (RM6204) and the Trade Law Panel (RM6183). It is the default route to market for central government departments and their executive agencies, and in a further competition buyers apply their own published award criteria. The agreement page does not set a bio format, so the buyer's documents do.
Private-sector panel reviews work the same way: the client's request for proposals sets the length, the order and what to include.
A bio structure for panels
- Name, title, office, and proposed role on the panel or lot.
- A short profile aimed at the buyer's practice areas.
- Representative matters relevant to the lots, described within the firm's confidentiality rules.
- Sector experience, where the buyer asks for it.
- Admissions, qualifications, education, languages and memberships.
- Rates or seniority band only where the tender asks for them in the bio rather than in the pricing.
Doing it with Formatix
Upload the tender's bio format, or your firm's pitch bio template, then the team's CVs or website bios with a note per lawyer: the role and the matters to lead with. Formatix fills one bio per lawyer in about thirty seconds, in one layout; it places only what the source and your note contain, so check every matter description before submission. New accounts get 10 free credits, valid for 14 days, with no card; paid plans start at £20 a month.
Frequently asked questions
- What replaced the Legal Services Panel (RM6179)?
- The Legal Panel for Government (RM6360), which runs from 30 September 2025 to 29 September 2028 and also replaced the Rail Legal Services and Trade Law Panel agreements, according to the GCA agreement page.
- Should panel bios name clients?
- Only where the client has agreed and the firm's rules allow. Many firms describe matters by sector, value and type instead. Formatix reproduces matter descriptions as the source gives them and does not add client names.
- How long should a panel tender bio be?
- Whatever the tender documents set. Where they set nothing, one page per lawyer keeps the team section readable.
