Lawyer bio formatting for pitches and legal panel tenders

Formatix AI turns lawyers' CVs and existing bios into your firm's pitch bio format, in bulk and in one house style. You upload your bio template, or the format a panel tender asks for, once; then the pitch team's CVs or current website bios; Formatix fills one bio per lawyer as an editable Word file, with the experience relevant to this client first. Business development checks each bio beside the original before it goes into the pitch.

It is built for business development, bids and pitch teams at law firms: the people who assemble team biographies for client pitches, panel reviews and public-sector legal tenders, often from offices that each write bios their own way.

No credit card. Your first ten CVs are free, and the trial credits are valid for 14 days.

    The problem with pitch bios

A pitch or panel response usually carries the proposed team's biographies. They come from everywhere: a partner's own CV, the website profile, a bio written for the last pitch in another office's layout, a lateral hire's bio from their previous firm. Each is a different length, in a different order, with matters described in different ways.

Business development rebuilds them by hand into one format, cuts them to length, puts the most relevant matters first for this client, and then repeats the exercise for the next pitch, where the format or the length is different again.

Public-sector legal work adds a formal layer. In the UK, the Legal Panel for Government (RM6360), run by the Government Commercial Agency from 30 September 2025 to 29 September 2028, is the default route to market for central government departments and their executive agencies; in a further competition, buyers apply their own published award criteria. When a buyer or a panel review asks for the team's biographies, it sets the format.

How to convert lawyers' CVs into your firm's bio template

    1. 1

      Upload your bio format once

Use the lawyer pitch bio from the Studio library, upload your firm's own pitch bio template, or the format a tender issues, in Word. Formatix keeps your fonts, layout and logo and emails you a filled sample to check.

    2. 2

Drop in the team's CVs or bios

Upload CVs, website bios or bios from earlier pitches, as a batch, in any layout or language. Add a note per lawyer: the role on this matter, and the sectors and matters to put first.

    3. 3

      Check and send

Each bio comes back in your format, about thirty seconds per bio, beside the original. Edit in place, then download editable Word files, one per lawyer or one combined team section.

What goes into each bio, and where it comes from

    • Photo, name, title and office: from the source.
    • Practice areas: from the source, in your firm's order.
    • A short profile written for this client: drafted from the source and your note, for business development to edit.
    • Representative matters: as the source describes them, the most relevant first. Formatix does not add client names or matter details the source does not contain.
    • Admissions with jurisdiction and year, education, languages, memberships and publications: from the source. Rankings and recognition appear only when the source states them.

Formatix only places what the source and your notes contain. Confidential matter descriptions stay exactly as confidential as they were in the source: check each bio before it leaves the firm, as you would today.

    One house style across offices

Because every bio is filled into the same template, the pitch reads as one firm: the same headings, the same order, the same length, whether the lawyer sits in London, Dubai or New York and whoever wrote their original bio. Run the whole pitch team in one batch and the section is consistent before anyone starts editing.

    A worked example

Take Ashby Vale LLP, a fictional firm with offices in London, Dubai and Singapore, pitching for a place on a client's disputes panel. The client asks for one-page biographies of the eight proposed lawyers, with relevant experience in construction and energy disputes.

Business development uploads the firm's pitch bio template and the eight sources: three website bios, four CVs and one bio from a lateral hire's previous firm. The note for each lawyer gives the role on the panel and asks for construction and energy matters first. Formatix returns eight bios in the same layout and length. The team checks each matter description against what the firm may disclose, trims two profiles, and the section is ready for partner review, in one house style across the three offices.

    Frequently asked questions

Can Formatix use our existing pitch bio template?
Yes. Upload a finished bio in Word and Formatix turns it into a template that keeps your fonts, colours, spacing and layout. You receive a sample to check before using it.
Can it work from website bios rather than CVs?
Yes. It reads CVs, website bios saved as PDF or Word, and bios from earlier pitches, and fills your format from them.
Will it invent matters or client names?
No. It places only what the source and your notes contain. Representative matters appear as the source describes them, and anything missing stays blank.
Does the Legal Panel for Government require a bio format?
The GCA's agreement page for the Legal Panel for Government (RM6360) does not set one; buyers apply their own criteria in further competitions. Use the format the buyer's documents specify.
    What does it cost?
Free to try: 10 free CVs, no card. Paid plans start at £20 a month for 20 credits, and one credit formats one bio.
